A reunion of former buddies, both
in the parade and at the annual ban.
। quet, will be stressed by the Amer-
icon Legion in this year's Armistice
Day eelebration. It was announced
Saturday by Coy C. Sounders, gen-
eral chairman. Committees are ac-
tively at work on various phases of
the day’s activities, with the inten-
tion of making the 1929 celebration
* the best in the history of Hansea
• Post.
Preliminary plans fsr the celebr-
tion include a parade in the. forenoon,
sponsorship it the West Texas
Teachers-New Mexico Military In-
stitate football game at Canyen in
the afternoon, and the ex-torvlae
men’s annuel banquet in the evening.
Services Sunday
Preceding the celebration on Mon-
day. November 11, there will be a
• patriotic service Sunday night at the
Municipal Auditorium. At this sort,
ice, Amarillo will have its first op-
portunity to hear Dr. William States
, Jacoba, pastor of the First Presby-
--------terian Church of Houston, and one
of the best known orators of the
South. Local citizens who have heard
him, urged the securing of Dr.Ja-
cobs as the speaker on this occasion.
Mr. Saunders emphasized that. al-
though the American Legion is in
charge of plans for the day, partici-
pation is not restrieted to its mem-
bon. All ex-service men, whether
members or not, and all patriotic and
civic organizations are urged to take
part. An invitation also is extended
to ex-service men from the surround-
ing territory to join in the Amarillo
celebation. Special places in the pa.
rude and also at the banquet table
will be reserved for any group de-
siring them.'
These groups msy be former mem-
bers of the same military organiza-
tion, same branch of service, former
residenee location, or any other that
will oaable participants to renew old
associations. Anyone interested in
securing a ramion of any group is
urged to get in touch with Adjutant
Sloan at the Legion Home, and space
will be reserved.
ku Colorful Parade
# The parade committee reports that
this year's parade will be unusually
colorful and impressive, since a large
number of attractive and symbolic
floats have already been assured, and
many more organteaUons will be rep-
resented than heretofore. Outrof-
town delegations also are expected to
be more numerous, on account of the
reunion feature.
Sponsoring of the Canyon football
game, Mr. Saunders said, is not in-
tended to conflict in any sense with
the high school game at Vernon on
\ athe same day. The situation is sim-
Fply that the Bandies are playing so
I far away from home that‘hundreds
d of their supporters will not be able
t to make tke trip, and at the same
' time the Buffaloes also may be reek-

a heavy outlay on the parade. On
this account, Amarillo fans are urged
