letter I stated its contents to our liter-

work we had taken subscriptions enough

Hardly a man refused to subscribe, for
aside from the fact that the Home and

costs, he is helping to advance the in-

In a few days a letter came from
Prof. Grimm accepting our offer and
stating that his school had gone to
work. The next letter contained the
first installment of fifty subscribers.
At this writing, the library has been
shipped.
Here is what Prof. Grimm says:
We are very proud of this month’s
edition of Home and State—40,000
copies are being printed, yet we are
but two years and six months old this
April. This is circulation building
that we have known other good pa-
pers to take twenty years to reach.
But the goal is not yet attained. So
great have been our gains in new sub-
scribers this year; so helpful and
generous with their time, have our
friends, old and new, been in sending
us clubs of subscribers, that we have
set our next mile-post at 100,000
subscribers, and hope to attain it
within twelve months.

i u ! Hi
Away up in Northwest Texas, in
Sherman county, which borders Ok-
lahoma, is the town of Stratford, and
its population is about 300 souls.
Surrounding Stratford is a fine agri-
cultural country, and the nearest
town is 30 miles away. The site of
the little city of Stratford is an ideal
one, being drained by the Cold Water
valley, less than a mile distant, and
affording a magnificent view of the
country for miles away. In fact, so
gently rolling is the land, and so per-
fectly straight the line of railways,
that headlights of approaching trains
can be seen for 30 miles either way.
The business of the town is conduct-
ed by wide-awake business firms in
all lines.

We know that we can give the peo-
ple of the South a magazine more
pleasing to their tastes than any oth-
er magazine published. Lack of
space has, all along, forbidden us
from developing a dozen fine and uni-
versally interesting departments in
Home and State. But with 100,000
circulation, we can give you a maga-
zine that will well nigh be a model,
with every page fair, clean and sweet,
and the magazine each month a lit-
erary gem, embellished with the best
touches of art. Help hasten the day
with a club of subscribers taken
among your friends.
