HOOVER SAYS HE IS NOT IN
RACE FOR PRESIDENCY
Portland, Oregon, Jan. 5.—Herbert
Hoover, United States Food Admin-
istrator and many times mentioned
as a potential presidential candidate,
has definitely declared his refusal to
be a candidate for that office, accord-
ing to a telegram reaching this city
from him.
The telegram was sent i to Elkin
Watkins, president of the Jackson
Club here, and reads :
