Court, to cooperate with the city by
petitioning for county roads south
and east of the city to be included in
the city’s ETJ.
County Judge Garland Perry
confirmed this week that the
commissioners will discuss the
proposition next Monday during a
regular meeting in the Kendall
County Courthouse. Perry said the
proposition calls for the county to
petition for the roads to be included
in the city’s ETJ, but for the county
to continue upkeep of the roads.
Texas general law, under which
the City of Boerne operates, permits
the city’s ETJ to extend only
one-half mile outside the city limits.
Under its charter, the City of San
Antonio’s ETJ may extend five

for inclusion of their properties.
This, city officials have said, could
extend Boerne’s jurisdiction to and
beyond the Kendall-Bexar County
line and beyond the Comal County
line.
Boerne Mayor Patrick Heath,
during a City Council meeting last
week, proposed that the city and
county begin negotiations on
voluntarily extending the ETJ, and
to invite landowners in the area of
the county roads to petition for
inclusion of their properties. Also,
Heath proposed that the Council
consider adopting a resolution to
limit implementation of the city’s
subdivision and sign ordinances to
the statuatory ETJ, which is a
one-half-mile radius outside the city
limits.
A scheduled Tuesday, November
10, , meeting in Kendalia by
commissioners has been canceled,
Magers said, in favor of a 7 p.m.
meeting on that date in the Kendall
Count Courthouse. At that time,
Magers said, property owners in
areas affected by the ETJ plans and
the San Antonio encroachment, will
be invited to “sign up” for voluntary
inclusion of their properties in the
Boerne ETJ. -
Most of the San Antonio
“encroachment” into Kendall
County will be in areas south and
east of the city. Several property
owners have been contacting city
officials in regard to being included
