To the Sheriff or any Constable of
Galveston County, Greeting:
Oath therefor having been made
as required by law, you are hereby
commanded that, by making publi-
cation of this Citation in some news-
paper published in said County once
a week for four consecutive weeks
previous to the return day hereof
you summon Jessie Quintana, De-
fendant, to be and appear before
the District Court. 56th Judicial
District, to be holden in and for the
aforesaid County of Galveston, at
the Court House thereof, in the
City of Galveston, at the next regu-

the first Monday in December 1929
then and there to answer the peti-
tion of Pauline S. Quintana, Plain-
tiff, filed in said Court on the 24th
day of October, 1929, and numbered
on the docket of said Court 45,719
against the said Jessie Quintana
Defendant, and alleging, in sub-
stance, as follows:
That plaintiff and defendant were
legally married to each other on
or about the 13th day of Septem-
ber, 1928, and that they continued to
live together as man and wife until
on or about the 10th day of Decem-
ber, 1928, at which time defendant
left plaintiff and they have not
lived together since said date as
husband and wife; that there were
no children born to plaintiff and
defendant as a result of said mar-
riage and there is no community
property to be divided between the
parties to this suit. That shortly
after the marriage of plaintiff and
defendant, defendant began a
course of cruel and harsh treat-
ment toward plaintiff, and on many
occasions he has cursed and abused
plaintiff and called her vile and
obscene names, and that on or
about the 10th day of December,
1928, plaintiff found defendant in
adultery with another woman; that
the above mentioned cruel treat-
ment is of such a nature as to
render the further living together
of plaintiff and defendant as hus-
parties to this suit. That said
abandonment is such as to consti-
tute the statutory three year aban-
donment. WHEREFORE, plaintiff
prays that defendant be cited anc
that upon final hearing in this
cause she be granted a divorce from
defendant, and that her maiden
name of Gaudalupe Contreras be
restored to her; for costs of suit
and any other relief she may be
entitled to, etc., as is more fully
set forth in said petition now on

against the said C. R. Sheffy, De-
fendant, and alleging, in substance,
as follows:
That plaintiff and defendant were
duly and legally married in Tyler,
Texas, on the 16th day of April, A.
D. 1922 and lived and cohabited to-
gether until the 9th day of Novem-
ber, A. D. 1922 and are husband
and wife in law. That on many oc-
casions, the exact dates the plain-
tiff is unable to state with particu-
larity, the defendant was guilty of
excesses, cruel treatment and out-
rages and would strike, curse and
abuse this plaintiff. That par-
ticularly on or about the 9th day
of November, A. D. 1922, the de-
fendant quarreled with this plain-
tiff, cursed and abused this plain-
tiff and left this plaintiff. That
for two months prior to their said
separation the defendant kept up
a course of unkind, harsh and ty-
rannical treatment towards the
plaintiff. That the acts and con-
duct as above recited constitutes in
law such cruel treatment as renders
the further living together of the
parties as husband and wife
wholly impossible and insupportable.
Wherefore plaintiff prays that the
defendant be cited to appear, ans-
