Dear Kendall County Voter,
This week I'll be visiting with you on the
Fourth Court of Appeals New Alternate Dispute
Resolution Program.
The Texas Legislature has authorized Alter-
nate Dispute Resolution Programs across the
state to carry out the state's policy of encourag-
ing the early settlement of pending litigation
through voluntaiy settlement proceeding. To
implement this state policy, the Fourth Court of
Appeals adopted local rules in 1991 to imple-
ment the court's new ADR program which will
provide an effective alternate local forum for the
early voluntary resolution of pending appeals at
no cost to the tax-payer.
I'm proud to serve as your rural Judge on the
Texas Fourth Court of Appeals and to be your
voice of experience and integrity.

LETTER TO EDITOR:
Dear Ms. Yelverton:
Thank you for your letter about
your experience traveling with
TWA on Flight 199. We would have
preferred to respond more
promptly, but our department
experienced some procedural
changes and we appreciate your
understanding.
Please let me thank you for
sharing your newspaper column
with us. It is one of the most
charming of “Americana” that I
have seen. I grew up in the Panama
Canal Zone and in one of our local
newspapers, there was a columnist
who had a similar sense of humor,
coupled with a comfortable, pleasing
“hometown” style of writing that
was a pleasure to read. Your column
was likewise very refreshing in an
age when the sense of local
participating and recognition is so
seldom found. May you keep up the
good work. We also hope you will be

Refreshments will be served,
candidate and platform information
will be available, and campaign
buttons, placards and bumper
stickers will be for sale, said
Dorothy Graves, county Democratic

She said she is hopeful that some

Higgins of Roundtop who is seeking
the state senate seat from the 26th
District.
The headquarters is situated at
Main and Blanco streets, across
from the public library.
Meanwhile, club members at their
monthly meeting last week voted to
meet at 7:30 p.m., October 13 and 27
in the headquarters to work on
election matters. The meetings are
open to the public.
The headquarters is open from
about 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. six days a

“A brand new leaf I’m turn-
TO THE EDITOR:
We are living in unusual times.
Most of us remember when
neighborhoods were peaceful com-
munities, children could go to the
neighborhood store on bicycles to
get last minute things, and we did
not bother to lock our car, and even
our home. Now that’s all changed.
Vandalism and violence is not
something that happens only in the
poorer side of town.
We hear the presidential candi-
dates talk a lot about “Family
Values.” If you listen to both of
them, they give you the impression
that these values we older people
grew up with are a thing of the past.
Perhaps they are. But they also give
the impression that they, if elected,
will work hard to bring these values
back.
Some people call this wishful
thinking. It does not matter which
candidate is elected, he can not, by
himself, restore the family values
we would love to have. That’s a job
that will not be done unless you and
I do it. That will happen only when
each one of us do our part to save
the family and protect our neighbor-
hoods.
This is a monumental task and it
can’t be done alone nor by a group of
“do-gooders,” no matter how hard
they work. It has been said that “the
only requirement for evil to prosper
is for good people to do nothing.”
The problems in our streets and our
