facturing rumors somebody con-
ceived this one: "That Mitehell
adopted th. name "John Marshall"
to be used on his unfaithful enca-
pad** while going through inde-
pendence Hall one day. There he
noticed that the liberty bell had
cracked while tolling (or the fun-
eral solemnities of John Marshall.

WACO, TEXAS, March 29—"They
seem to be running me through
pretty tast," was Roy Mitcheil'n,
only comment after he had been
given the death penalty for the
fourth time in less than two weeks.
Mitchell was ‘convieted late
Wednesday of ths murder of W. P.
Driskell, Waco cotton man, on ths
night of May T of last year, Dris-
kell's skull was crushed with an
axe as he drove into his garage let
at night.
Mitchell, testifying in his own bi
half, declared. "I might be put
tshed for these crimes, but if "• y

As in the previous caner. Mitehell
admitted having made the contes-
elon to County Attorney Farmer,
but dueled Its truthfulness. He re-
iterated that he was mistreated
while confined in the Hill county
jail and that hie refusal to eat and
