Residence Life provided a
construction update on The
Pavilions and the impacts for
students scheduled to live in
the new on-campus apart-
ments next semester.
The update, sent via email
to Pavilions residents
Nov. 1, said the univer-
sity plans to host a max-
imum of 246 students
in January, as part of the
first move-in phase.
"Weather, inspections
and available labor can
all slow down construc-
tion schedules,” Director
of Residence Life Alicia
Vela said. "At this time,
we are not able to confi-
dently predict the Phase
1 completion date.”
Regardless of the com-
pletion of Phase 1, the move-
in date for the Spring 2018
semester is Jan. 13.
Vela said The Pavilions will
open in two phases to house
as many students possible.
The remaining students
will continue to be housed in
hotels next semester as part
of Phase II.
However, all students with
temporary off-campus hous-

Pelly added she’s fortunate
to live on-campus because
she doesn’t have to manage
with "Chariot problems.”
Students in hotels have
transportation through
Chariot.
In mid-November, Resi-
dence Life will host commu-
nity discussions regard-
ing temporary housing
locations to address
concerns, and will also
be hosting a webinar for
parents after Thanksgiv-
ing.
"To make the move-
out process easier, we
encourage you to begin
taking your belongings
home over the Thanks-
giving holiday,” Vela
said. "If needed, we will
store your items over the
winter break, at the uni-
versity’s expense.”
Further email updates from
Residence Life are expected
as the end of the semester ap-
proaches.
Vela concluded the email in
saying, "I want to thank you
for your continued patience
as we work to complete The
Pavilions and expand the
university’s residential com-
munity.”
