k Dallas Cowboy End Buddy Dial will be featured at the
Castroville Chamber of Commerce general membership meeting
Monday night, April 19, in Koenig Park Hall. The former Pitts-
burgh Steeler star’s appearance is sponsored jointly by the
chamber and Leon’s Seed & Fertilizer Inc.
Customers and families and special guests of the local
firm will hear Dial and other guest speakers that afternoon,
with e Mexican supper in the evening. Dial will show a Dallas
Cowboy film.
At 7 p.m. chamber members, families, and guests will meet
* Dial during a social hour. There will be food and drink. Follow-
ing a short business meeting. Dial will show a National Foot-
ball League highlights film at 8:15 p.m. This final part of the
day’s program will be open to the public, espe daily the young-
sters who will be able to meet with the professional football

Castroville City Council
March 30, to act on the pro-
posed city zoning ordinance,
was well attended by local
citizens, along with all coun-
cilmembers andcity Atty. Joe
Briscoe.
Citizens attending the open
meeting were Bob Johnson,
Les Stewart, Dr. Robert Reed,
Constable Joe Hoog, Mr. and
Mrs. Charles V. Green, Fred
Oaks, Milton and", Denis
Tschirhart, and Marcel Honig-
feld.

pressed pleasure at their

council for acceptance. Motion
for acceptance was made by
Councilwoman Ruth Lawler,

Voters in Castroville were
set to head for the polls
Tuesday, April 6, in record
numbers to cast ballots in the/
mayor and councilman races.
Two candidates are battling
it opt for the mayor’s post.
They are incumbent Mayor El-
ton Tondre, completing his 1st
2-year term, who is challenged
by Charles L. Suehs, who
formerly served as a council-
man and school trustee. Tond-
re also was a councilman
prior to his election as mayor
€ 2 years ago.
Three candidates are vying
for 2 council vacancies. The
candidates, as their names
appear on the ballot, include:
