Even though these library articles
are always written about hardback
books, paperbacks are a very
popular item at the Rufus Young
King Library. Many people enjoy the
convenience of paperbacks as they
can be carried in one's purse or even
pocket. There is always a varied and
wide selection of paperbacks
available because many people
donate their paperbacks when they
have read them
Murder in the Red Room is a new
hardback mystery written by Elliot
Roosevelt. Roosevelt's books are set
in Washington during FDR’s term as
president and Eleanor Roosevelt,
the First Lady, is instrumental in
solving the crimes. Robber's Trail
by W W Lee is a Walker Western
featuring Jefferson Birch, a former
Texas Ranger.

against whatever might befall us,
and plenty of spending money for
entertainment
When we put these material
possessions first in our lives, we
often drown out the simple pleasures
that are all around us and really cost
very little
On top of all of these unneeded
material possessions, we often
overburden ourselves with problems
such as self-doubt, fears, jealousies,
past hurts and hatred
These are all burdens that would
be better off left behind
It's like packing light The less you
take, the more fun you have and the
more you can see and do.
One of the keys to living a full and
exciting life is learning to cling to the
basics of life.
It means leaving behind many
unnecessary burdens that cause us
sadness and heartache, and starting
to move around with a new freedom
that allows us to better serve others
as well as our God.
Then we can get a better idea of
how Jesus and His first disciples felt
when they struck out on their
journey to spread the good news
without anything to burden them
down
May God help all of us to leave
behind some of our burdens so that
we can follow our Lord more
faithfully.

Packing usually turns out to be one
of the most difficult things about
going on vacation
Most people end up taking much
more than they will ever need and
their luggage turns out to be an
almost unbearable burden they have
to drag from one place to another
Experienced travelers have
learned to pack only the necessities,
taking very limited changes of
clothing and only items that are
absolutely needed
My wife and I have tried doing this
in recent years and have found that
traveling can be much more
pleasureful that way We only take
luggage that can fit under the seat of
the plane when we travel by air, so
we also never have to worry about
our luggage being lost by baggage
handlers
Even when we go on a car trip with
the family, we all have learned to
pack light so we don't spend so much
time loading and unloading, and
carrying things to and from the
motel room.
But even the most experienced
travelers don't travel as light as
Jesus instructed His disciples to do
when He called them to follow Him.
He told them, "Do not take
anything with you on the way - no
staff, no bag, no bread, no money”
(Luke 9:3).
The Saviour and His disciples
were going to be spreading the good
news of the kingdom of God and He
didn't want them burdened by
needless baggage that could slow
them up or take their minds off the
course.
There is a good lesson in this for all
of us who are trying to follow Christ
today.
Often we try to make ourself
believe that we need a lot of material
things that really aren’t necessary
Our lives become consumed with
trying to make enough money so that
we will have fancy cars, modern
homes, a good savings account, all
kinds of luxuries, plenty of insurance
