36th Association Is Bullish - Let's Keep It That Way
* * * * * * * * * *President Teggeman Report
We have just passed the two thirds mark for 1984-85 and it seems like it's
been two years or more, but it's been fun. Mae and I have traveled many
miles on T-Patcher business and visits with chapters and members and hope
we are doing a fairly decent job for the 36th Division Association. Many
things are still waiting to be completed or accomplished before convention
time in Houston.
Start Making Your Plans NOW ...
1. The 36th Division Reunion to be held at the Shamrock Hotel in
Houston, Texas on August 29, 30, 31 and September 1 is progressing very
nicely under the capable leadership of Convention Chairman Sammie Petty
and his wife, Ruth, and Auxiliary Chairlady Myrl Nowell and husband, Bob,
plus being assisted by none other than Julian and Ruby Philips and the
Houston Chapter members. Everything seems to be on schedule and it
should be a great convention. How great depends on you being there. Every
year I hear the same question, 'I wish old so & so would show up, I would
like to see him again. I wonder why he didn't come and be with us?' Your
name has not been forgotten in the conversations I'll assure you, just the
body is missing. Yes, we are going to make a few mistakes, but the good will
outshine the bad. So make your hotel reservations now, (a hotel reservation
card has been mailed to you) you can always cance if you can't make it later
on. The Shamrock Hotel can accomodate all of us if we get our reservations
in early.
` Birdoggers Keep Us Moving Ahead ...
2. Membership as of April 13, 1985 was 3,531 total members of our 3,600
member goal with 463 of these being life members and 1,249 have paid up
for three years. Our life membership goal is 500 and we are hoping for 600
by convention time. All funds from Life members are placed in a sustaining
fund and placed into interest bearing accounts with interest being transfer-
red to the general fund to take care of your dues. You save taxes on interest
and we protect the future of this organization for your children and grand-
children so that the 36th story can go on and on, and never be forgotten. We
need your help in recruiting members so look around and find that one or
two buddies you have not seen and sign him up.
Fighting 36th Quarterly IS a MUST ...
l 3. Quarterly - We finished up with 504 subscribers for Vol. #4 with the
4th issue having been maield and many have also ordered complete sets of
Vol. I, II, III to get a full group of four volumes. Now it is time to get your
orders in for Vol. V with the first issue due out in July. Bill Jary, the man
with many ideas says he has many stories on file but he also needs yours to
pick from for future issues. This is history in print that will be read by
Americans for years to come. I may even finish my story one of these days
and send it in.
NEW - AJA Pineapple Hawaii Chapter
S4. Hawaii: The AJA Pineapple Hawaii Chapter has been issued a charter
by the Board. Leonard Wilkerson is organizing a group to go to Hawaii the

I5. Sesquicentennial Report: The 36th Division Association has received
official approval to participate in the Texas 150th birthday celebration in
1986. All 36th Division Past Presidents will be working on a committee to
give us full exposure and recognition. We want to place plaques or
memorials of some sort in each town that had a 36th Division unit on
