In Victory Service Center Rites
Open House Slated
At First Presbyterian
Church on Feb. 22
In a ceremony read by the bride’s father, the Rev. P. H.
Rav of Cartersville, Ga., Elizabeth Ray became the bride of
Sgt. Bernard Smith of Camp Barkeley, Wednesday evening.
The wedding took place at 6:30 in the Victory Service
Center, where a white archway was background for an altar
arrangement of ferns, palms, white gladioluses, stock and
candles.
The bride wore a gown of white brocaded satin and car-
ried a white orchid on a testa- -

best man for Sergeant Smith, and
Cpl Donald Lang and Cpl. Russell
Gingerick were ushers.

Bob Jones and McMurry colleges.

Neb . Sergeant Smith was educated
in Northwestern Bible college He
was engaged in civil sen-ice work
in Washington, D. C at the time of
his entrance into the Army.

Josephine Estudillo, daughter of

ceived a cablegram from her fath-

Her civilian career was devoted
to a world of fashion, the lieuten-
ant having been a member of the
fashion staff of the New York
World Telegram While on the
Telegram, she was fashion artist
and fashion writer holding that as-
signment for eight years.
In addition, in 1*41 she was un-
der contract with the Style Crea-
tor* of Chicago, and was respon-
sible for a number of large fashion
shows in Chicago.
She enlisted in the Corps in
February 1943, and after complet-
ing basic training at Ft. Oglethorpe.
Ga., she attended OCS at Ft. Des
Moines, Iowa. In June, 1943 she
won the commission of a second
lieutenant and went to Alamogordo
She was promoted to her present
rank July 33, 1944.
Lieutenant Rhines has an inter-
esting military background She is
a descendant of Charles Carrollton,
signer of the Declaration of In-
dependence Her great grandfather
was s Revolutionary War general,
and her grandfather was the young-
est captain in the Civil War
She received her education in St
Marys Academy In Monroe, Mich ,
the Academy of Fine Arts and the
American Academy of Art

members met in annual busi-
ness session Wednesday at
the Woman’s club.
Elected along with Mrs. Stewart
and to be installed with her in the
early fall were Mrs. Sam Ken-
nedy, vice president: Mrs. Guy Pax-
ton, second vice president; Mrs. E.
A. Shepperd, recording secretary;
Mrs L. E. Dudley, corresponding
secretary; Mrs. G. W. Waldrop,
treasurer.
