SPECTATORS weren t allowed
at Parramore Field Monday after-
noon.
The Hardin-Simmonses, players
and coaches, weren't there to put
on a show They were there to
work And that they did in gener-
ous quantities.
Big Ed Petty declared “we’ve
been working pretty hard ' And if
Monday’s head-knocking is an jex-
- ample his declaration was by way
of understatement
Linemen received a great deal
of attention from Head Coach War-
ren Woodson and Line Coach Mur-
ray Evans Freshman Coach Al
Milch was also around to offer
advice and instruction
Then the squad indulged in a
head-knocking session in which
each and every player laid aside
all bonds of friendship And it was
healthier to do things right Miss-
ing an assignment or jumping off-
side brought reprimands which'
were highly effective in preventing
a recurrence of the misdeed.
It is obvious that the Cowboys
aren't taking this one lightly, as
they have a few other games this
season The Border Conference
championship is at stake that’s
all What better reason could the
Pokes have for really knuckling
down this week
It looks as if the Cowboys will
have to operate without Hook
Davis. Davis himself expressed the
opinion he wouldn't be of much
value to the team "I’ll probably
only get to play if we’re ‘way
ahead or Tech is ‘way ahead, one
of the two."
So if the Cowboys win another
Border Conference championship it
will probably be without the
matchless service of Davis.

this morning as to their op-

Everything else is all set.”
