is amended to exempt producers
from federal control.
J. C Donnell. II, president of
Ohio Oil Co., said the supply of
natural gas available for interstate
commerce will be limited if public
utility methods and standards are
applied to field sales.
Donnell spoke at the concluding
session of the 35th annual meeting
of the Texas Mid-Continent Oil &
Gas Assn.
P C Spencer, president of Sin-

1.000 oilmen of dangers from po-

Spencer said modern inventions
and discoveries continue to bring

practices.

basis," he said.
“This is an unnatural and un-
economic condition which in the
end will benefit no one, including
the consuming public. The problem
is receiving constructive attention
from many competent sources and
we can be confident it will be
rectified.”
Donnell said that unless the 1938
July 16, FPC froze wholesale nat-
ural gas prices in the field.
Donnell said that if the court's
ruling is carried out present con-
sumers. in a relatively short time,

competitive forces in a free mar-

Escape System:
Hold Your Breath
GOSPORT, England at — The
British Navy is working on a new
system of escape from crashed
submarines—just hold your breath,
open a hatch and jump out.
Navy experts demonstrating the
new system here say the oxygen
masks used in normal escape ap-
paratus hold hidden dangers. Some
recent submarine disasters, they
say, showed men died from oxygen
poisoning while trying to reach the
surface.
The new scheme followed a tip-
off from the navy’s "frogmen
divers. They pointed out that no
man with air in his lungs could
drown on his way to the surface
from medium depths because
pressure gradually forces the ab-
out and makes it physically im-
possible to breath in.
