Our city was treated to another

Poor man. He has it bad. If

feel like denying our calling.

The Dallas News is boosting the

Texas has a law that will prevent
persons from boarding a train un-
less they do so in good faith to be-
come a passenger thereon. A pen-
alty is attached. This will if en-

The man who is hunting a job in
a dairy is not in our employ. That
is a mistake. But if we should get
an incompetent man and discharge
him because he could not do the
work we should consider milking
cows more honorable than loafing
or slandering an honest competitor.

Maj. Stout of the General offices

west of Mr. C. C. Dorrians) and will
erect a castle that is worthy of no-
tice in the neighborhood of fine
houses where he will settle. We
congratulate him in advance.
George Clark of Texas has made
a speech. It was hra “golden op-
portunity" to be heard. George
was a “Little Giant” once in Texas
politics but his short legs round
body and speckled neck-tie will not
get him and his goldbug party any-
thing this time. Will some one try
and convince George that he is
dead and that he should keep still.
During the meeting of the “Uni

Texas are to meet in that city (on

I’. Baur manager of the Texarkana
Gas and Electric Light Co. heads
the list in making the call for such
meeting.
The clerks have something to be
proud of and that is their organiza-
tion. They have enlisted the mer-
chants to join and when the em-
ployer and employe can sit at the
same table and crack jokes away
from business they learn to under-
stand each other better and the
attachment between them grows
stronger. The clerk will work bet-

The war news from Havana as
published in the dispatches is very
contradictory. The Insurgents are
put down as killing 3000 and losing
700 In the last tight with the
Spaniards and after the dispatch-
es tell uh all of this It follows it up
with a siirmlse as to a battlejhaving
been fought. We are always glad
to read about an Insurgent victory
but sorry to hear of their
defeat. We hope yet Cuba will be-
come an imlependant nation and
that tin* United States will declare
a protectorate over the plucky Is-
land or else annex it as one of our
states.

Two prominent milk men doing
business in this city have become
embittered at each other and any-
thing but the milk of human kind-
ness Hows in their breasts for each
other. It seems one of them secur-
ed a good cash customer from the
other and this was more than milk
man No. 2 could stand and it is
charged that in making his early
morning rounds and seeing his riv-
als milk in the can he used to fill
the “old Nick” rose in his heart and
he proceeded to pour its contents on
the earth leaving the can empty.
Os course this caused the man who
was expecting the milk to “kick”
and an investigation was had and
a detective put on the ground to
watch and the guilty man sought
for. We learn that he was found
and two or three witnesses will
swear they saw him empty the con-
tents of the can on the ground. A
warrant will be issued for him and
his trial will probably take place
tomorrow. We do not give names
as the above information was given
the reporter by the agrieved party
and we shall await further develop-
ments.
