Above, National Volunteer Week was April 30-May 7 and Leonard Care Center honored those
who lend a hand at the nursing home. Left, Mamie Jo Johnson, who gives 15 hours of volunteer
time each week to the Care Center, was recognized for her contribution."Thanks, Mamie, the
residents and staff don’t know how we could make it without you. We say thanks and we love
you very much,” said a spokeswoman. Johnson comes three times each week for Bingo, goes
fishing and on outings with the residents, visits residents, helps with garage sales, coordinates
children’s visits and helped organize a trip to the circus. Pictured with Johnston is her cousin
George Hataway.
