Aged Mu Died at Moore Saturday.
Obed Cook, born ia North Carolina
December 8th, 1824, died at Moore,
Texas, September 11th, 1915, age 90
years, 9 months and 3 days. A
Deceased was the son of Thomas
Cook, a Ficibodist minister, who
was at one time a presiding elder of
the Beeville district. He came to
Texas in 1844, when it was a re-
public and cast his first vote against
annexing Texas to the United States
When the Civil wsr broke out be
headed a company, of which he was
Firat Lieutenant, and fought as a
brave soldier until the fsll of Arban-
sas Poet, when he was taken prison-
er and carried north where he lang-
uished in a federal prison for a year.
Deceased was a member of the
Methodist church, for many years a
steward of the church, and loved by
all who knew him. He leaves three
daughters,.in North Texas and Okla-
homa, and a son, Professor A. J.
Cook,who recently removed from
Devine to Moore, at whose home he
quietly passed away.
After the funeral, conducted by
W. L. DuBose, his remains were in-
- terred in the Moore cemetery, on
the following evening and his grave
was covered with beautiful flowers,
which silently spoke of the/ long
beautiful life he hsd lived.

Beit ordained by the Board of
Commissioners of theTown of Devine
in council assembled;
Sect. I. A reward of ONE HUN-
DRED DOLLARS ($100.00) will
be paid to any person, or persons,
who shall cause the arrest and con-
viction of any person, or persons for
the crime of Arson committed with
in the corporate limits of the Town
of Devine, Medina County Texas.
Sect, 2. An appropriation is here
by made out of the general fund for
ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.
00) for each and every case of Ar-
son where the reward is entitled to
pe paid.
