Lucy Anne Schwarz Bergmann
March 18, 1938 - Nov. 4, 2006
Lucy Anne Bergmann, nee Schwarz, died in Comfort
Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at the age of 68. She was born
March 18, 1938, in Boerne, to Edgar and Inettah M. Cooke
Schwarz.
She married Fred Neil Bergmann of Comfort on July 21,
1956, in Boerne.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother,
Louis Cooke Schwarz.
In addition to her husband, Fred, she is survived by her
son, Kendall Bergmann who is stationed in Iraq with the US
Army, and his family, daughter-in-law Lana and grandchil-
dren Brandi, Kyle and Renee Bergmann. She is also sur-
vived by her brother and sister-in-law, Edgar Jr., and
Catherine Schwarz of Boerne.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at
Schaetter Funeral Home Chapel in Comfort with the Rev.
Bob Kaul officiating. Interment will follow in the Comfort
Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brad Schwarz, James Schwarz, Paul
Schwarz, Ernie Elsworth, Daryl Griffin and Rudy Carlos.
The family asks those who desire to send memorials in
Mrs. Bergmann’s name do so to Immanuel Lutheran Church
Expansion Fund or the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department.
Dianne Gibson Neal
Jan. 25,1945 - Nov. 4, 2006
Dianne Gibson Neal, 61, of New
Braunfels, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4,
2006, after a reoccurrence of breast can-
cer. She was born in Paducah, Tex., on
Jan. 25, 1945. She is preceded in death
by her parents, Glen Gibson and Yvonne
Gibson Berkley, and her brother, James
Henry Gibson.
She is survived by her beloved husband---—-----------
of 40 years, Sam Neal; her daughter, Dianne Neal
Amy Howe; her son-in-law, Thomas Howe; her grandchil-
dren, Drew and Jenna Howe; numerous family members and
countless friends.
Mrs. Neal was a member of the Republican Women of New
Braunfels, and had been a volunteer at the library at Hoffman
Lane Elementary School, the Kendall County Fair
Association Women’s Auxiliary and the Boerne Area
Historical Preservation Society.
Visitation will be at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in
New Braunfels, on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at Oakwood Baptist
Church in New Braunfels at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9.
Interment will follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens.

James Christie “Chris” Odom, Jr.

Funeral service for James Christie “Chris” Odom, Jr., 57, of
the Block Creek Ranch in Comfort, formerly of Nacogdoches,
were held Monday, Nov. 6, at Cason Monk-Metcalf
Sunset Chapel with the Rev. Rick Anderson of First United
1 Methodist Church officiating.
Chris Odom was born Jan. 27, 1949 in Shreveport, La. to
James Christie Odom, Sr. and Marilyn McKaskle Odom and
passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 in Comfort.
He was a member of the Methodist church and the Purebred
Dexter Cattleman Association of North America.
Surviving Chris is his mother, Marilyn Odom of
Nacogdoches; a sister, Diane Odom Pawlik and husband Ron
of Bellaire; nephews, James Pawlik of Bellaire and Edward
Pawlik of Dallas; and great-nephew, Zachary Pawlik of
Dallas. He is also survived by his companion of many years,
Dr. Mickey Bush of Block Creek Ranch in Comfort.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jim Odom, Sr. on Dec.
23, 1963.

Texas Fourth Court of Appeals
Republican Justice Karen Angelini is facing Democratic chal-

Comfort ISD
Comfort ISD board members and administrators are asking for a
$12.3 million bond issue including two propositions. Proposition 1
would add classrooms at each campus to maintain student-teacher
ratios, fix mandatory American with Disabilities Act and
Occupational Safety arid Health Administration deficiencies,
expand the agricultural science building, enlarge the high school
student dressing facilities, repair drainage problems at the high
school and pave the parking areas near the athletic and agricultural
science facilities.
Proposition 2 would expand the career and technology offerings
at the high school. This expansion would include providing facili-
ties for programs such as health science careers, computer-assisted
drafting, building trades and other technology-based programs.
