first place in district and earn a
first-round bye in the playoffs.
Medina Valley falls to 5-3, but
still clinches the final playoff
spot available since they have a
two-game cushion over Ker-
rville with two games left and
have defeated the Lady Antlers
twice this year.
On Friday, Boerne took a 5-1
lead in the first game and went
up 6-1 in the second game to
take the early momentum. The
third game was the most com-
petitive, but the Lady Hounds
still prevailed by six points.
Monica Deschaine led the
team in kills with 11, Heather
Maddox finished with 15 assists
and eight aces and had four of
those aces early in Game 2,
while Kayla Bessellieu had five
digs.

a 13-play, 63-yard drive. Dur-
ing the drive, the Panthers
picked up four of their eight
first downs in the game.
In all, Boerne forced Medina
Valley to punt six times in the
game, blocked another punt at-
tempt, recovered a fumble and
came up with an interception.
Dennis Smith had the fumble
recovery, while Mike Green
recorded the interception and
picked up the punt that was
blocked by Taylor Tomlin.
Green took the ball all the way
to the Medina Valley 3-yard line
to set up the final Boerne touch-
down of the night - a Mason
Finley dash to make it 26-0.
“The blocked punt was a big
turning point because it was
still 19-0 at the time,” Bludau
said.
While Finley concluded the
Boerne scoring in the game, it
was Ryan Christianson who
gave the offense a boost by
scoring Boerne’s first three
touchdowns.
Christianson had touchdown
runs of 11, 20 and 8 yards, one
in each of the first three quar-
ters. Christianson’s 20-yard
burst in the second was set up
by the Green interception and
was the first of two one-play
scoring drives by the Hounds.
Finley’s touchdown was the
other one-play scoring drive for
the Hounds.
“Our offensive line did a
tremendous job, we really took
the ball down the field and ran
it real well.” Bludau said. “I
thought Ryan Christianson had
another outstanding game run-
ning the option game and both
our backs, Brandon Oliver
catching the ball out of the
backfield and Mason Finley
both did a good job, but you
have to contribute that to the of-
fensive line which continues to
get better.”
Bludau singled out Jay Kazan
and Jake Moyer for filling in
admirably on the offensive line
for injured starters Adam Feller
and Matt Powell.
While Boerne played well,
Bludau said they could play
even better. BHS coughed up a
fumble and an interception,
missed an extra point and a
field goal and couldn’t get off
another field goal attempt.
“We had a breakdown in our
kicking game. We should have

had maybe 10 extra points at
halftime, but we turned the ball
over in the red zone and that’s
not going to "beat" the good
teams as we keep going,” Blu-
dau said. “We told the kids it
was important to get the win
under out belts, but we’ve got to
do a better job of playing a
more complete game against a
team like Kerrville.”
