The task at hand is not an easy one, and will most
likely leave some parents unhappy as Boerne ISD
prepares to draw new attendance zones for the
2006-07 school year. ,
Several dozen parents of BISD students attended
the first of two public meetings Tuesday night to
voice their concerns over the proposed rezoning
plan presented by Don Tillis, director of facilities
and Dr. John Kelly, superintendent.
With a new elementary opening next August,
school officials are working on a plan to distribute
students evenly across five elementary campuses
and two middle schools to avoid overcrowding in
the growing district - an issue that has some parents

BISD will hold a second public meeting on Mon-
day, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. in the administrative offices
at 123 Johns Rd. to receive input from parents and
students.

the proposed rezoning areas, go to BISD’s Web site
at www.boerne-isd.net and click on the “Proposed
Rezoning 06/07” link.
After receiving comments from the public, BISD
officials will present a final recommendation to the
board for approval at their Dec. 5 meeting.
“We can’t give everybody what they want,” said
Kelly. “It’s not possible. Instead, we have to put to-
gether a plan that provides an optimum balance be-
