AgriLife Extension Service
offers oak wilt program
For residents of the Texas Hill
Country it’s not a matter of if, but
when oak wilt will impact their
property. Oak Wilt is a fungal
disease that is deadly to Live Oak
and Red Oak trees. But there is
hope. With proper identification
and prevention management, the
disease can be kept from devastat-
ing oak trees.
The Bandera and Kendall County
offices of the Texas AgriLife
Extension Service are sponsoring
a program to address Oak Wilt. It
will be held Thursday, June 3, at
the Majestic Ranch Art Founda-
tion, 543 Hwy 46 between Boerne
and Pipe Creek.
Speakers will discuss all aspects
of Oak Wilt management, includ-
ing proper pruning, Oak Wilt
identification, fungicide injection
and trenching. Those attending
should dress for outdoors.
The ranch is about 1 mile inside
Kendall County on Hwy 46. Reg-
istration begins at 5 p.m. and the
program is from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Three continuing eduction units,
with one in Integrated Pest Man-
agement and two in general will be
awarded to those with a pesticide
applicators license who attend.

the Kendall County AgriLife
office at 830-249-9343.
