WASHINGTON (AP(-President
Kennedy takes off Tuesday on a
two-day tour of installations di-
rectly involved in missiles and
men into space.
The White House describes the
Inspection tour as a business trip
without political overtones. But,
as usual, it’s a safe bet some
observers will read political over-
tones into it-especially since this
is an election year.
Vice President Lyndon B. John-
son heads an array of govern-
ment executives and Congress
members who will make the trip
with Kennedy. They will inspect
the Army missile research labora-
tory at Huntsville. Ala., then fly
to Cape Canaveral, Fla., Tuesday
afternoon.
After spending the night at
Houston, Tex., Kennedy will de-
liver a speech Wednesday morn-
ing at the Rice University stadium

From Houston the President
and his entourage will go to St.
Louis, Mo., to look over the Mc-
Donnell Aircraft plant before re-
turning that night to Washington.

A bus driver reported seeing a
tornado on the ground about 20
miles south of the city during
the afternoon thunderstorm. He
said it flattened several fences
but did no other apparent dam-
age.
By late afternoon the front was
just inland along the upper Texas
coast and extended east and west
across South Central Texas.
Showers and thunderstorms were
occurring along and ahead of the
cold mass.
However, skies over most of
the state remained clear to partly
cloudy.
