HOUSTON SCHOOL FOR DEAF
Community Lodge, B’nai B’rith, recently presented a monetary
donation to the Houston School for Deaf Children. The school is
supported solely by contributions.
Pictured are (left) Dr. David Skibell, and (right) Dr. Alan Rosen,
who made the presentation to (center) Ned Van Maanen, Director of
the School.
At the presentation a film was shown depicting the School’s
program of oral education and training for the young deaf children
in the community.

SOVIET JEWRY RETREAT
The Confirmation Class of
Cong. Brith Shalom will hold a
retreat on Soviet Jewry Feb. 11
and 12. The special “in-city”
retreat is being planned by the
students to include a film, visits
from persons knowledgeable
with conditions in Russia,
discussions and role playing.
Rehearsals for the Confirmation
Class New Music Sabbath will
also be held, interspersed with
discussion periods.
The Shabbat session of the
retreat will be held at the home
of one of the confirmands. All
day Saturday the retreat will be
held in Memorial Park, weather
permitting. Miss Diane Zomper,
assisted by fellow confirmands,
is in charge of arrangements for
