THE COURTS.
Doings in the Halls of Justice.
This morning oefore Judge King
of the 45th District court the appli-
cation of the Farmer’s Loan and Trust
company of New York intervening
defendants in the case of Johnson &
Hansen vs. the San Antonio and
Aransas Pass Railway company for
removal of the control of the receiver-
ship of that road from the state court
to the Federal District court came up
for hearing and occupied the greatly
part of the morning session. The
plaintiff’s Johnson & Hansen were
represented by Messrs. J. C. Carr P.
J. Lewis H. M. Aubrey and Reagan
Houston the intervening defendant’s
attorneys being the distinguished
Galveston law firm of Willie Mott
& Ballinger. The argument was
opened by Col. Mott in behalf of in-
tervenors taking the ground that the
intervening being the largest credi-
tors of the road and being non-resi-
dents of the state of Texas were in
justice entitled to removal of the Jur-
isdiction from the state to the Fed-
eral court. This was contested by the
attorney’s for the plaintiffs Johnson
Hansen on the ground that such
removal would work adversely to
the local creditors who held la-
borers' liens on the property
of the company which would not
be given precedence in the federal
court the precedence being given by
that court to bond holders while the
state courts by the state statutes
gave precedence to the laborer. The
court after askiug that the attorneys
cite him authorities in the matter
announced that he took the matter
under consideration and would take
time in the preparation of h:s decis-
ion which will probably be quite a
lengthy document.

ed of in this court this morning:
