Kiwanis Report

Linda Little
One of the
annual Kiwa-
nis' projects is
the awarding
of a $1,000
scholarship to
a Rusk High
School senior.
This year's re-
cipient was
Raven Hend-
erson who
plans to major in the bio-medical
field. Another yearly project is
Kiwanis' food booth during the
Fair on the Square.
This fund raiser is the mqjor
source for the scholarship fund-
ing. Rusk and surrounding resi-
dents once again overwhelmingly
supported the booth with their food
purchases.
It is always a pleasure to hear
from previous scholarship recipi-
ents. Fellow Kiwanian Nancy
Guinn keeps updated with the
progress of Leslie Rochelle Parker
who received the scholarship. Ms.
Parker is preparingto enter Baylor
Law School in the fall.
When you support a Kiwanis
fund raiser, you impact the lives of
people whom you may never meet,
but who benefit from your gener-
osity.
Reunion planned
Herschel Kyle, former Rusk resi-
dent and former leader of the Rusk
National Guard Unit has an-
nounced plans for a reunion of all
men who served in the Rusk Na-
tional Guard Unit. Those inter-
ested in the gathering are invited
to contact Mr. Kyle at P.O. Box
112, Rusk. He ask that there be no
phone calls, please. "We want to
hear from families of those mem-
bers who are now deceased," he
said.
