the youngsters trying out the tree house following a dedication ceremony Wednesday afternoon attended by
the McCombs family. Al Groves of San Antonio conceived and designed the tree house funded by a $10,000 gift
from the McCombs Family Foundation of San Antonio. The tree house has a steel structure covered with cedar

Bond election
boosts turnout
BY JAY ERMIS
News Editor
Kendall County voters have only
today remaining to take advantage of
early voting in the Nov. 8 special joint
election.
Early voting ends at 6 p.m. Friday,
Nov. 4, at the county annex, 221 Fawn
Valley Drive in Boerne, and at 8 p.m.
at Fair Ranch Oaks City Hall, 7286
Dietz Elkhorn.
The three elections include the
Boerne Independent School District’s
$87.5 million bond, 10 proposed state
amendments and the Kendall County
Fresh Water Supply District No. 1.
Kendall County Elections Adminis-
trator Staci Decker said that through
Wednesday 2,140 ballots have been
cast with 1,708 from Kendall County
voters.
“We don’t normally have a bond
election the same time as an amend-
ment election, so I am pretty pleased
with the turnout,” Decker said.
She expects at least another 500 vot-
ers to turn out Thursday and Friday,
putting the early voting figure above
2,600 for the 11 days.
“This is far more than what I
expected for early voting,” Decker
said.

In addition, three trustees made a
site visit to the community where the
candiate is employed before voting to
name the finalist Friday morning.
Trustees are required to wait 21 days
before voting to hire the finalist. Con-
tract negotiations will take place prior
to the Nov. 28 hire date.
Trustees Bob Ogle, Susan Hulett,
Lydia Beaver, Richard Elkins, Ron
McBee, Alan Rich and Jennifer Chris-
