Ges. Lane's Spellino.—The New Or-
leans Courier says that some of tho de-
cency papers pcuk of Gen. Lane na a man
who cannot spell. Tlioy say .ho writes
God with a little g. If the charge were
true, it would show more of. a misfortune
than a fault, for it would only prove that
tho Geucral had never enjoyed tho advan-
tages. of early education., It must be ad-
mitted, however, by our extremely nioo
friends, that Gen. Lane has never written
out an endorsement of tho cowardly Sum-

ward Everett, withclassicality and correct
orthography, sympathized with Sumner;
und contributed money to hoal tho broken
skin and wouuded honor of that celebrated
poltroon.
Non-Intervention in Mexico The
New Orleans Picayune of the 22d instant,
says it is stated from Washington that
France and England have resolved to in-
tervene in tho affairs of Mexico, ancl bring
about an armistice- for twelve months.—
That accomplished, they «will call a .Con-
vention of delegates, to arrange the. ques-
tions nt issuo between the belligerents in
that distracted republic. Mr Wykc, the
new British Minister to Mexico, will go_
out in a short tiino from England, with
full instructions on the subject.
It is also stated that the United States
have been invitod to take part in this pol-
icy, but it is not likely that the invitation
will bo accepted.

to the almost entiro failure of crops, tho
people will ho deprived, not only of the
means to pay debts, but also-of the means
to purchase necessary supplies for their
families, until another crop can be raised,
therefore, the members of tho Jury view
with feelings of apprehension und alarm
tho present and approaching condition of
their county, and express the dccided opi-
nion, that a great many families will suffer
for the neoossarics, unless 80109 plan is
devised to relievo the wants of tlio people.
They earnestly recommend to Governor

this State iu extra session at an early day,
for the purpose of passing such measures
of relief for the citizens us may bfe duemed

been recommended' by some other coun-<
