"We learn tlint in a nelghhorln county

Is permitted to walk around 'scot free,'
although tiie oflicers know him to be a
fugitive from justice. If such be the
truth, etc." Now. Mr. Editor, I know
something yet worse than that, and
though 1 am not prepared to swear to it,
am very much inclined to believe that It
all took place In the "neighboring
county" of which you speak. Where 1
speak of there Were two noted prisoners,
one escaped from the Victoria jail, and
the other from Clinton jail, the latter ol
which in tbe middle of the day went all
over the town, the county seat of that
neighboring county," trying to buy a
pistol, while the olllecr, though aware of
their presence, took no steps at all to ar-
rest them. But I know more, and from
the best authority. The citizens of that
neighboring county" tire taking steps
to either petition those olHcers to resign,
or the Governor to remove them.
I notice in the Advocate of July 20
