Bolivar, July 2, 1858

My dear Child,
I answered your last letter
last week, but the intervals between them are
so long, I will write again tho I have no news
of interest to communicate. All continue well
so far, tho there is some sickness about. little
Jimmie ,Fentress is recovering. Maj Hardison
died last week very suddenly. Peters has returned
with his girlish wife of 18, a very small lady.
I am told, he said she was worth 75000, but
a law suit has been instituted against the estate
which if decided against them will take
nearly all, so says report. I suppose his present
crop is entirely destroyed by the overflow of the
Miss. Property seems to be changing hands here
occasionally but not at an advanced price.
I am told Jerry Adams place is now offered
at 1150$ just 500 less than it cost him. I have
no doubt I made a fine sale of my land. I
have an admirable likeness of Kate & Sallie
on one plate, Collodeatype it is called. I do not
think Kates altogether as handsome as she is
but still very striking, the expression of the eye
