Mrs (?) Jerome Hill, ,(?) Crawford,
and some others are yet at Altons.
Bill hardy is very low with (?). Major
McNeal was arrested by the swearing
to a lie by 19 ohis men saying that
he was out at the skirmish near hear,
cheering on the men (?) after (?) (?)
trial he was released. he seems to have
the ill will of most the Army, & also
his wife. they have (?) his
property very much. I do wish you
had Dave. I put him at Johns for
nothing but his (?) & clothes.
Elijah plays cards all the time.
I hope you write (?) an opportunity of
letting me know whether you get the
clothes & if you want any thing else.
I wish I could hear from Walter (?)
& Jimmie Wendel. Frank dont
forget to pray & read your bible, we
cannot have things as we desire. God
(?) all things, & directs for his
own Glory & our good. I pray that he may
remember me & mine in tender compassion
& prepare each one for Eternity & restore
my Children (?) (?) to their homes.
I pray daily for submession to his will. Write
