Notes

Additional historical context: According to researched information; there was indeed a National Guard unit in Deming, New Mexico ca. March 1916 and that unit was Company I, 1st New Mexico Infantry of the New Mexico National Guard. Company I, 1st New Mexico Infantry was mobilized to assist the 13th Calvary after Pancho Villa and his Villistas entered the United States and raided the small town of Columbus, New Mexico. Villa raided Columbus on March 9, 1916. Citation: Nationguard.mil
