Senator Culberson was
leader of the democrats
Senate, an honor that
wanted and could have
last year, but which was
his reach this year. It is
step on the downward path.—Hal-
letsville Herald.
Such remarks as the above anent
Senator Bailey are unfair and un-
truthful. It is a known fact that
Bailev has been offered the leader?
ship of the Senate many times but
btepped aside for an older man.
Bailey says he does not want to
be fettered i by anything of that
kind. When he has anything to
say he wants to strike out from
the shoulder and does not want to
be hampered ®by being leader of
the Senate. We are glad that
Senotor Culberson was chosen, and
we admire Bailey more for relin-
guiShing ail claim oa the leader-

13,—The daily press often names
prominet cities with some signifi-
cant prefix, but they never mention
"Salubrious Schulenhurg." If they
did, people would simply flock in
multitudes to our sun-kissed burg.

We know it to be a fact that it was
raining on the 13th and the sun,
if it did shine at all it was only for
about 15 minutes all day. But
since, we have been enjoying days
of sunshine. And it is appreciated
for if any burg does need to be
"sun-kissed" it is "Salubrious

mean and yile things that could be
thought ot. This same Sweet Wil-
