Skyline view of Houston, the seventh largest city in the nation. It is encircled by
one of the most abundantly endowed regions to be found anywhere. Houston's
output of oil field equipment and services ranks first in the nation. The population
of the city is 1,243,158. The astonishing growth of Houston has been closely tied
to the growth of her port.
The TEXAS STANDARD is published bi-monthly (except July-August) September to June
by the Teachers State Association of Texas, 1191 Navasota Street, Austin, Texas. Entered as
second class matter May 17, 1945, at the post office at Fort Worth, Texas, under Act of
March 3, 1879. Re-entered at Austin, Texas, October 20, 1953.
Membership dues of $7 in. the Teachers State Association of Texas entitle members to
receive the TEXAS STANDARD by-monthly, except July-August, for one year. Subscription
price to non-members $2.50.
Material published in this magazine does not necessarily reflect the views of the editors or
the policy of the Teachers State Association of Texas.
