with both parties. He is in the army
somewhere. Dr. Scales of Kentucky Town is
a rebel not leader - Dryer of Pilot Grove
had in many respects made himself the
terror of our vicinity. Morgan of Ky Town
was killed by a rebel in the town + hundreds
of dark deeds perpetrated which would fill
volummes.   Crops look fine - abundance
of ever thing was raised there this year
there were
more wheat than          laborer to take care of
it    Had fine rains and up to the time
I left Texas - no indications of a drouth
My husband had to leave Texas last
March in company with Mr. Andson of
Pilot Grove + Mr Campbell. I thought him
dead- and determined to stay no longer
so I got aboard the Stage (a regular line between
San Antonio + Little Rock) went to Little R.
+ from there highered a private conveyance
to within ten miles of Helena and a good
union amn took us through ourlines
and "Uncle Sam" conveyed us to my
home - so you see when northern blood
is sent up it is ready to overcome most
any barrier to be free.  I can't tell you
the half here, but this is the outlines.
What is your Sisters name?  I might know
something about her.   I should be glad
to meet you also.  I presume you would
be astonished to hear any husband's
adventures and my own experiance.

rebs who have persecuted all refugees
