Canadian Rotary Club hosts District Governor Sepulveda
By Anna Booze
The Canadian Rotary Club held its regular
weekly meeting on Tuesday, August 22, at the
WCTU building. We were honored to have
as guest speaker, District Govei'nor, Roger
Sepulveda of Borger.
Mr. Sepulveda joined Rotary in 1983 and
has held various offices in the Borger Ro-
tary Club. In May of 2003, he received the
Outstanding Rotarian Award for District 5730.
DG Sepulveda set goals for the local Rotary
clubs to implement projects meeting needs in
areas of literacy, water management, health
and hunger. He also stressed the importance
of having fun in Rotary and creating the family
of Rotary.
Members present at the lunch meeting
wex-e Kyle Altmiller, Don Beard, Anna Booze,
George Briant, Richard Brock, Dorothea
Crowell, Erbin Crowell, April Dillon, Robert
Ezzell, Michael Gardiner, Larry Gatlin, John
Hughes, Donnie Johnston, Charles Kessie,
James McCarley, Don Rader, and Colby Wa-
ters.
After enjoying the wonderful meal provid-
ed by Alexander's and the motivating speech
by DG Sepulveda, Rotary members met at the
Dan and Kay Gatlin home for an evening of
hamburgers and fishing.
Larry Gatlin began the fun evening with all
Rotarians singing "All Hail to Rotary." George
Briant and grandson, Quentin Campbell, won
the fishing award by catching several catfish
over eight pounds. We still wonder if it was the
same catfish! Colby Waters, wife Erin, and
daughters, Hannah and Emma, with the help
of Matt Dillon, had as much fun catching sev-
eral smaller catfish. By the squeals heard from
the kids, tremendous fun was enjoyed by all.
Rotarians attending this fun event were
District Governor Roger Sepulveda, Dave
and Rita Pearson, Larry, Janet, Logan and
Connor Gatlin, Charles and Janie Kessie,
George Briant and Quentin Campbell, Michael
and Deanna Gardiner, Don and Ester Rader,
Erbin and Dorothea Crowell, Matt and April
Dillon, Robert Ezzell, Colby, Erin, Hannah
and Emma Waters, Anna and Cole Booze.
Rotary wishes to extend a he arty thank-you
to Dan, Kay, Larry and Janet Gatlin for the use
of their facility and the great food.
Next week's program will be presented by
Mark Tomlinson with TxDOT.
Rotax-y welcomes you to join us on Tuesday
at noon at the WCTU.
