Navy Secretary Knox staid

One day after the sinking of thu

was "putting up a gamer fight"
than at any time in its history.
"I am not foreshadowing the
results," he told his press confer-
once "and 1 am certainly not
foreshadowing defeat." .
The secretary described tho
campaign In the Solomons as a

All indications today were that
the Japaneser-goaded by contin-

Generally, Knox said, the Pa-
