Legislature we drew a charter for

Jasper and Shelby" road, securiug

evory respect as could then be ob-
tained, and by the aid of frieuds
procured the passage of the bill,
and its maturity into a law. But
unfortunately, it forfeited its
chartered rights, and lapsed. No
doubt, if this country had been as
ripe for an enterpriso of that kind
then, as it is now, it would have
been pushed rapidly through to
coinpletiou.
We would certainly luul with
delight, the uudoubted assurance
