in March, 1870.
The College and Hospital Buildings, with
their grounds, consisting of about foil! acres,
adjoining the University Park. The main
College Building is four stories in height,
and is equal, if not. superior in its style of
architecture and facilities for the accom-
modation of medical students, to any of
the first class Medical Colleges. The lec-
ture room* are conveniently arranged, and
will accommodate two hundred ami forty
students.
The Apparatus of the College, and the
material of t.rio cabinets of the several
chairs, have been selected with the great-
est care. They are complete, arid well
arranged for an ample illustration of tho
several branches taugh'.
Clinical Instruction will be given in the
Washington General Hospital and Assylunt,
situated within tho grounds of the Institu-
tion. Arrangements have been made O r
the admission of Mie students of the Col-
lege, under proper restrictions, for the study
of diease at tho bed side. Surgical anil
obstetrical cases will be seen by th.i class-
es under the supervision of the Professors,
and operations will be performed in their
presence in the amphitheatre.
The Orphan Assyluni will afford ample
opportunities for lire study of the diseases
of children.
The Army Medical Museum of tho United
States, in this city, contains the most elab-
orate collection of surgical, pathological,
anatomical, and microscopical specimens in
tho world. This museum is accessible to
medical students, an 1 furnishes them with
facilities for medical aud surgical instruc-
tion not found in any other city in this
country.

Before graduating, the candidate must
comply with tho following
REGULATIONS:
1. He must furnish evidence of a jocd
moral character.
2. He must have studied medicine not
ess than three years, during which time he
shall have attended two full curries of lec-
tures at some regular Medical College, one
of which shall have been in this Institu-
tion.
3. He must have dissected at least one
winter, and atteuded the clinical lectures.
4. He must present to the Secretary of
tho Faculty an acceptable thesis, in his
own handwriting, upon some medical sub-
ject.
5. Ho must pass a satisfactory examina-
tion.

So much of Sections twenty-three (23)
and twenty-four .2 1) of An Act for the As-
sessment and Collection of Taxes, approv-
ed November It), ! <><, as makes it the du-
ty ot the Assessors and Collectors to exe-
cute deeds of conveyance to purchasers of
lands sold for taxes, > suspended ; aud shall
remain inoperative until after the restora-
tion of civil government in Text's, and the
re-admission of the Slate into the Union.
Assessors and Collectors of Taxes in the
several counties and collection distiicts of
Texas, are forbidden to execute or deliver
deeds of conveyance to purchasers of lands
heretofore sold ander the provisions of said
Act: Provided, that nothing "herein shall
be construed as arresting or suspending the
sal* of property for taxes due thereon ; but
Assessors aud Collectors, as heretofore, will
expose to publ:o sale the lands as well as
other property of delinquents, as provided
by law, which will be bid iu by tho State if
not purchased by individuals.

Forthe belter preservation of lira peace,
and to prevent the frequent resort to fire-
arms in personal difficulties, by tha citizens
of tlii« Post, and to break down a prevail-
ing habit—«like pernicious in its effect on
good morals and Government—carrying
lire-arm and deadly weapons—except by
officers of the law—the nature of whose
duty requires it—is forbidden.
2. Within live days after the promulga-
tion of this Ordei at the county seats of the
following named counties eimrprising this
Post. viz. Harrison, Marion, Davis, Bowie,
Red River. Titus and Upshur—any viola-
tion of this Order will snli'ect the offender
to arrest mid confinement in military ens-
tody, at tho discretion of tho Post Corn
matider.
3. It is made the duty af every military
officer of this command, and of every civil
officer within its operation, to enforce the
provisions of this Order, and any neglect 01
l'ailuru ou the part of either to do so, will
subject them, if a military officer, to snch
punishment as a Court Martini may inflict
and if a civil officer, to lemoval from of-
fice.
4. Every person violating this Order,
when arrested within the limits of Ma-
rion, Harrison, Bowie and Red River, will
bo taken before the Post or sub Post Com-
manders, and within the counties of Davis,
Titus and Upshur, before the County Judg-
es, there to deliver up all the lire-arms or
other deadly weapons found upon their per-
sons, and it ail aggravated case of violation
of this Order, tlnjy will be held in confine-
ment aud the case reported to the Post
Commander for his action.
5. A list of all lire-arms aud deadly wea-
pons, thus taken, will rie kept by the officer
receiving the same, showing the name ol
the persons from whom taken, kind and de-
scription of arm or weapon.
6. No part of this Order shall be constru-
ed to deprive any person of the right to
hunt and shoot game with shot-guns or ri-
fle <.
