medic U practitioners have afflicted them since the
commencement of the Cristian Era. Drastic ape-
rients, pcrnicious stimulants, and poisonous lo-
tions and etauUions, have ruined the constitutions
and blighted the loveliness of thousands of the
treutler sex; but we trust that the day when the
lives of those who are dearest to us could thnsbe
trifled with i3 past. At length wives and mothers
begin to understand the danger of being subjected
to such treatment. The mild, soothing and res-
torative influence of Hullo ways great internal
and external in all the complaints to
adolescence, during the season of maternity, and
at a later period of life. Every disorder bodily
and mental, incident to this sequence, seems to be
relieved and modified by the gentle and purifying
effect of Holloway's Pills.
We should not venture, in a matter of such
vast importance, to hazard an opinion on ques-
tionable grounds: but we cannot hesitate to be-
lieve the testimony which liris been placed before
us. Ladies of the highest respectability, rightly
thinking that squeatnishness is out of place where
health and life arc concerned, have certified to the
efficacy of the remedies in nearly all the com-
plaints to which the sex is liable, and have re-
commended them in the strongest terms as pre-
servatives of that external beauty which depends
upon health, as well as of health itself.
If it be true—and who so insensate as to doubt
it?—that
"The. world was sau, the garden was a wild,
And man, the hermit, sighed till woman smiled,"
surely it behoves us to point out and urge upon
her attention the mean3 of relieving her sufferings
and turning her sadness into joy.—AT. 1". Sunday

ftlcLane's Worm Specific,
PREPARED BY FLEMING & BROS.
The following, from a customer, shows the de-
mand which this great medicine has caused wher-
ever it has been introduced:
Blossburg, Tiooa Co., Pa., March 30,1850.
Messrs. Fleming <$- Bros.—Gentlemen : In conse-
qnence of the great consumption of your '"Worm
Specific'' in this place and vicinity, we have en-
tirely exhausted our stock. We should feel obli-
ged by your forwarding, via Corning, N. Y., twen-
ty dozen, with your bill, on the reception of which
we will remit you the money. .
From the wonderful effects of said '^Specific''
id this neighborhood, there could be sold annually
a large quantity, if to be had, (wholesale and re-
tail,) from some local agent. If you would com-
pensate a person for trouble ftnd expense of vend-
ing, I think I could make it to your advantage to
do so. Yours respectfully,
WM. M. MALLORY,
Per W. E. Portkb.

Woodisian's Extract of Jamaica
Ginger.
CjCCH is the intimate connection between the
O stomach and the pcrvous system, that the
health of one depends very much upon the state
of the other, and a medicine which is grateful and
beneficial lo the stomach, has the effect of restor-
ing tbe nervous system to its natural tone and vig-
or: mid owing to these circumstances the Extract
of Ginger will he found an excellent remedy for
nervous and sick headache, for sea sickness, nau-
sea, etc., etc. The great advantage of the fluid
extract, or essence of Jamaica Ginger, is, that in a
very concentrated form, it contains all the active
principles without any of tbe inert matter, which
makes it much more agreeable to the stomach.
Dyspeptic perso ns who are troubled with nau-
sea, or distress of the stomach, after eating, ow-
ing to the weakness of the digestive organs, will
find this preparation invaluable, as it usually af-
fords immediate relief, and is far more efficacious
than brandy or any other kind of ardent spirits, as
it stimulates and warms the stomach, producing a
more permanent relief, without ihe injurious con-
sequences which result from alcoholic stimulants.
During the prevalence of the cholera, it was
found of the greatest benefit for preventing a
weakness and relaxation of the bowels, which
produce diarrhea.
A few drops in a tumbler of water, with sugar
or syrup, forlu a healthful and delightful beverage;
this extract counteracting the bad effects of the
cold water.
WOODMAN'S EXTRACT OF JAMAICA GINGER
is elaborately prepared from carefully selected ar-
ticles of the best qualify.
Caution.—Persons desiring an article that can
be relied upon, prepared solely from pure Jamaica
Ginger, should be particular to ask for "Woodman's
Extract of Jamaica Ginger," w hich is warranted
to be exactly what it is represented.

when under tbe saddle—trots very rapidly in har-
