D. C. FARMER, A. M.,
Late of Tennessee, as an Instructor in the Academy.—
Mr. Fanner has had five years experience In teaching,
and is well qualified to fill the place for which he has
been engaged.
This Institution is now established on a permanent
basis, and the Principal confidently refers to his patrons
in tills city, aud elsewhere, as to its success in instruc-
tion. The government of the Academy is mild, though
firm, decisive and uniform. Harshness and severity are
always avoided. Strict order, prompt obedience, and
constant industry are required as the only means of se-
curing the ends of the Teachers and ftilfflling the hopes
of the patrons. The morals and deportment of the pu-
pils are especially cared for, and carefully guarded.—
Thoroughness in all the departments of an academical
education is kept in view—scholars taught to think
and to rely upon their own e orts for success. A daily
record of the behavior and recitation of the scholars
kept, and a monthly report sent to their parents or
guardians. But while a spirit of emulation is thus ex-
cited, higher motives to diligence are

Languages: or Penmanship. Book-Keeping, Math
eiuatics. Phonography, etc., in a practical manner,
as used in business and every day life, can do so
in the shortest possible time, as there are special
Professors and apartments for each branch.
None but the best and most experienced Profes
sort and Assistants will ever be engaged. There
are nine apartments—a Reception Room elegantly
fitted up for visitors, so that pupils are never inter-
rupted in their lessons; and an apartment for the
pupils of each Professor; and also, practicing rooms,
so that pupils taking the full course in any one ot
these branches, can have ten hours' practice each
day.
All branches are taught as they should be prac
ticed U business and every day life. The English,
French, German and Spanish are now the commer-
cial languages of the world, and the social, literary
and scientific languages of the greater part of Eu-
rope and America, are daily becoming more impor-

Reading, Writing and speaking any language they
may wish to learn.

of these languages.
No institution in the United States offers so great
facilities for the acquisition of the living languag-

South America could employ as many more.

any books In a few lessons.
It is the only institution in the United Statee
where persons advanced in life can, in privats

Itdepends entirely on its own merits for support
and whil many institutions in the South, liberally

truly wonderful. Mrs Hempstead, living on Wash

confined to her bed by Rheumatism, and during a
great portion of the time, suffered untold, agsnj-
from neuralgia of the face. After vainly endeavor-
ing to get relief from the prescriptions of many emi

various nostrums, advertised to cure these diseases
she was induced by a friend to try the Arctic Lini-
ment, and the result was almost magical. Before she
ad used a whole bottle, her pains were entirely gon#
and by the time she had used six bottles, she wa*
completely restored to health. A whole Journal
might be filled with cures as wonderful as this, but
one is sufficient to establish the fact that the Arctic
Liniment will cure, when everything else fails. I>
