A recently opened addition
to our growing Chinatown
district near downtown Hous-
ton is Chung Ya Trading Co.,
which offers Chinese grocer-
ies, canned goods, gift items,
fresh produce, and much more,
at prices too low to pass up.
Co-owners AT THUAN TAN, SHU
WING CHAN and BENNY CHIN are
planning to expand even fur-
ther at the 2011 Lamar loca-
tion, with office spaces (al-
ready filled, we're told) and
other projects in progress.

Friends of MARY ANN and
TAYLOR WONG will be pleased
to hear the two erstwhile
Houstonians will be returning
from Saudi Arabia for an ex-
tended visit after the first
of July.

MAN LEE, new owner of the
Panda Inn Restaurant at 4118
Willowbend near Westbury
Square, hosted a grand open-
ing reception June 26. Many
members of the community lent
their presence to the event,
including realtor WALLACE GEE
and VICTOR PAPPAS of the City
Health Department.

who heads the Houston Chinese
Catholic Church which meets
at St. Ambrose, returned to
Houston after a vacation In
the Orient.

Dr. HONG SIT's former as-
sistant at Grace Chapel, Rev.
Philip Cheung, is now a pas-
tor in Calgary, Canada at the
Emanuel Church. Rev. Cheung
and his wife are expecting a
little newcomer into their
family in July.

Chiang, a teacher for 13
years, continues to teach in

The July 4th Picnic at Chi-
nese Baptist Church commences
from 1 to 5:30 PM. Refresh-
ments are free. Hot dogs and
hamburgers will be sold for
a dollar. Various activities
for the family will be plan-
ned by GEORGE GEE. The Sun-
day evening service begins
at 6 P.M. ....

ELIZABETH WONG, student of
Travis Jr. High of Conroe,
was named a 1982 United
States National Award winner
in Science by the United
States Achievement Academy.
This award is a prestigious
honor very few students can
ever hope to attain. The
Academy recognizes less than
5% of all American high
school students.
Elizabeth was nominated by
her Science teacher. Her
name will appear in the
United States Achievement
Academy Official Yearbook,
published nationally.
Elizabeth is daughter of
Mr. & Mrs. EDWARD P. WONG
of Conroe, and granddaughter
of Mrs. FRANK LEE of Houston.

JAMES TANG, M.D., son of Mr.
Mrs. S. S. TANG of Houston,
completed his residency in
plastic surgery at the Univer-
sity of Texas Medical Branch
in Galveston on June 30th.
He will continue on in Gal-
veston as Assistant Professor
of Plastic Surgery.

Starting this fall, MIKE
CHAN completes his final year
for a degree at the Univer-
sity of Houston after which
he will devote a great deal
of time to the political
scene. Mike takes time out
in November to participate
in the U.S. National Asian
American Convention.

Anesthesiologist DR. CHONG
C. CHUNG and wife, GRACE,
vacationed three weeks in
the Orient. They joined a
hospital tour group in which
they visited relatives and
Dr. Chung taught his med-
ical specialty.

DR. LYNA KIT LEE LIM and
husband DR. JOHN LIM return-
ed to Houston from San An-
tonio. John is associated
with St. Joseph's Hospital
for a one-year internship
after which he will under-
take residency in New Orleans
at Tulane next year for
specialized training in
ophthalmology.
