MRS. ELSIE HUANG has been
appointed Principal of
Mayde Creek Elementary
School in Katy, which is
scheduled to open in
August 1983. The new
school will have an
initial enrollment of
650 students. Mrs. Huang
states she is "looking
forward to this new

Terri Ligh, daughter of Tommie and Lillie Ligh,
will be leaving Houston the second week of May for
Dallas to attend the Theological Seminary there. A
reception was held for Terri at the Chinese Baptist
Church at the Family Life Center on April 24. Terri
has served as the Youth Director at the Chinese Baptist
Church since 1980.

Taking a much deserved vacation from their busy
printing and office supply business, Gene and Hedy Lee
will be heading to the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands.

Donations are being accepted by the Institute of
Chinese Culture at the Rice University to aid students
whose parents lost their jobs due to the economy. Indi-
viduals who wish to join in this effort for this good

The T. K. Eng family traveled to Houston to
join in the joyous occasion of the Cheung-Chin wedding
ceremony. T. K. Eng, formerly director of music
at Houston's Chinese Baptist Church, is now engaged
in the real estate business in Dallas.

The Chinese American Citizens Alliance is now
accepting applications for their summer citizenship
classes. Those interested in attending these free
classes, should contact Mr. George Bo-Linn at 697-6133.
Classes are given on Sunday afternoons for 10 weeks.
A minimum of 20 students are required to have a class.
Director and Mrs. Enti Liu (Linda) became the
parents of a second son, Tadd, who arrived on February
8th at 8 lbs. and 20 inches tall. Tadd's Chinese name,
Ta-Der, when translated means virtue, moral.

Dr. and Mrs. David (Elaine) Chin are the proud
parents of a son - Michael David, born on April 12, 1983.

The Honorable Dr. Frederich Chien, Representative
for the Coordination Council for North American Affairs
(U.S.A.) will honor the City of Houston with a visit
at the end of May. Mr. Chien will be the Guest of
Honor at a gala dinner sponsored by the Chinese Associa-
tion of Organizations.

Attorney Harry Gee, Jr., will be attending the
American Immigration Lawyers Association Conference in
New York for a week in May.

Congratulations to Peng Siong Ang of the Univer-
sity of Houston for winning the NCAA Championship in
the 50 meter freestyle event. Peng Siong is a Junior
from Singapore. His time set a new world's record in
this event.

Mr. Dick Lew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lew, was
recently named the recipient of the National Lung Kong
Association's Scholarship Award.

Mr. Jim Soon Lee has been elected Vice Grand Presi-
dent of the Lee Family Association of North America.

Former Houstonians, Peter and Susie Lee, are the
proud parents of a son - Steven. The grandparents are
Mrs. Fred Lee and our city's Bill and Kim Woo.

Daisy Brazzai of Atlanta, and May Moy of Indiana,
were in Houston visiting with their sisters, Lillie
Ligh and Esther Quan recently. Daisy was attending an
Operating Room Nurses National Convention held here in
Houston.
