Lucas, Aug. 7.
The man who goes into a
ileal campaign and comes out
has great cause to rejoice.
Every man ought to some time In
life, announce for office, whether tw*
intends to make the race or not. In
order to test his character.
There are two times In a ruaii'n
life when his sins come up
him. One time Is when he is try-
ing to get religion, and the otlu r i*
when running for office.
If your grand daddy's rmido

There l* no pi ice In the political
aietni for the ambitious yowth.
There Is to be no more cUnibinjg
higher. It a man starts with a
const !hit sLip. that must be the liiRlit
of his glory. To ask for something
higher would ii ' equal to asking fur
a third term.
The last time to run for ' fllrre to
near the siui^et of life. Wheu you
have spent your best days in
iworklng for yourself, then come out
and offer the frizzle end of your life
to your country.
i But I am very grateful for the
Due vote I saved in the primary.
'Had there not been a deep sei t«di

lieople that a man ought to hold of-
fice two terms, 1 might have leu*
that one.
