comment.
The Sunday schools In America
have been studying- the Book J of
Luke for the past six months. It has
been the most valuable study In all
the Scripture. We are at a period in
history where we need to understand
how--to-meat the problems of life.
been the theme of our study In
The life of Christ will unswer au.v
problem we face. The Saviour never
overlooked a need. Prophecy had
to be fulfilled,^ and the world hncT'to
be redeemed. "The soul that slnneth
'hali surely die." Adam sinned, and]
since that time yv.$ have all been sin-
ners. The world had to bo redeemed,
and. the Prophets told hnw, it would
be done. Jesus was born in fulness
of time. Luke was u medical doc-
tor, a real student of science, thanks
to Ood for men like him. His story
nf the Birth of Christ is like looking
Into heaven from a snow covered
mountain peak, when all the stars
are out to offer their comfort ond
cheer. Heaven just naturally comes
to earth, Jesus came from heaven to
rnrth, and wus born of a virgin. Doc-
tor Luke tells the story, and I be-
lieve JesUs feets human needs by
coming to earth.
We do not know much about the
life of Christ during his early youths
However, we do know' He was taken
to. the Temple for circumcision. Then
at the aK® of twelve his ' parents
took Him to Jerusalem for the feast
of the passover. That much Indi-
cates Ooil hail trusted His keeping in
good hands. Jesus meets human
needs by His example In youth.
Before Jtfsus started his public
'ministry He proved Himself by over-
coming temptation. What a wonder-
ful'thing for a man to stsurt- jHteK-'by
overcoming all temptation. ' IBs".'life,
was . pure, He faced His friends in
Nazareth an<t preached a sermon. A
good place to start is at home, Jesus
did. Realizing His need for men He
chose twelve to train. That was the
first organization in Christianity.
Jesus preached the Sermon on the
Mount as an Ideal to follow. The
• spirit of the law and not Hie letter
<;f'"the law, is true Christianity.
Jesus -demonstrated His power v by
healing tH6\-<qlck. giving sight to >he
blind, and feeding the multitude. He
showed Peter, James and John, a
real picture Iroin heaven from Mount
Transfiguration. Jesus 'meets hu-
fan needs by service. ^5^.
Triumph is the ambition of many,
but for Jesus it was a step closer to
tho cross. Jerusalem welcomed
Jesus as a King on earth. Jerusalem
rejected Jcscsi as Heavenly King.
Jesus was arrested, denied and false-5
l.v tried, He died for our sins on the
cross. The,t >aib could nqt hold Him
in death, and the Roman empire
could not hold Him in resurrection,
the earth could not hold Him In His
appearance. Jesus meets human
needs by His SALVATION.—Walter
B. McNesly, Pastor West Or-
ange Baptist Church.
