DOAN'S PILLS
Think of Your Linen Closet •
Of course, thia is the month of linen sales. Now is the tiraa W jS
Dver what you have, and if you are to buy, buy wisely. Perh*^ you are
pne of those perfect housekeepers who has a linen closet which looks like
the picture below, with a place for everything and
everything in its place—or perhaps with all you have
to do, you just can't do more than put the clean sheets
on a shelf irrespective of whether they are single or
double, pillow cases on another, towels on another and
let it go at that.
However, if you can give the time to organise
your linen closet once, and then put the clean linen
at the bottom of its own pile as it's washed, youll find
your linen closet a joy instead of one of those nagging
things you ought to get to, and never do. Out of my
own experience—and I'm a busy woman too—I have
found that a great help in keeping me organised and
having a "perfection closet" as well is to have a mend-
ing shelf. When there is a torn pillow case or sheet and
no time to mend it, put it neatly on the mending shelf. ■
Or if you haven't room for such a shelf in your linen;

to women who suffer
FEMALE WEAKNESS
Pew women today are free from some sign
of functional trouble. Maybe you've noticed
VOURSELt' getting restless, mootly nar-
vous, depressed lately—youi work too much
for you —
Then why not take Lydio E. Pinkham's
Vegetable Compound to help quiet weary,
hysterical nerves, relieve monthly pain
(cramps, backache, headache) and weak
dizzy tainting spells due to functional ir-
regularities.
For over CO years Pinkham's Compound
lias helped hundreds of thousands of weak
run-down, nervous "ailing" women to go
smiling thru "difficult days." Why not give

Extra Linen Closet ||
in Bathroom
And speaking of extra space
consider if you can put a small closct,
in your bathroom to hold the bath
linen thus keeping the linen closet
_ for sheets, pillow cases, blanket cov-
ers and blankets. In quite a small
space, two dozen towels, a dozen
wash rajrs and six bath towels can
be kept. Of course, it's the bathnaat
and towels which are bulky, so the
Studio suggested to our readers a
few months ago to keep a good pile
of towels on towel racks. This
needn't make the family extrava-,
pant with towels if you set some)
rules. But for many, a closet is wise, I
so use your ingenuity, and look over!
mail order catalogues to see if you;
can find what you need—pre-sup-j
posing you need more space. If yo«!
don't there is no question.
Colors in Linens
J
. Since bathrooms are as susceptible to color schemes as any other'
room in the house, be very careful how you buy. If you have pale blue
walls for instance, you have three good chances for color schemes: blue
; towels which harmonize with deep blue initials or monograms; straw
colored towels with blue initials; or pale peach with blue initials. If you
can atford it, it s well to have eight at least of a color and be careful to
; rotate their use so they will wear more evenly, since even the most per-
fect of merchandise, must recognize old Anno Domini and constant use. !
Another way to decorate a bathroom with colored linens, is to keep!
the walls a neutral cream or even white, and then have sets of the colors!
■you love for different weeks, bright red towels, bathmat, rug, one week,!
fall b ue another week, all yellow another. With white curtains or venetiani
jblmds, you can have constant variety.
j So take stock of your linen, think about your needs, see what you'
;can contrive about more space if you need it, then sally forth and take!
.advantage of the grand sales. And resolution number one, put your lineni
closet in order, put the edgings on the shelves and have slip ties for keep-i
-lng the piles in picture book order each week. •
