Hello Folks, Well we're still a
bit high from the San Antonio
reunion and it's time to sit
down and put the December
column together. Time just
keeps moving along doesn't it?
There is a point in everyone's
life when time just seems to
pass so quickly, it seems like
the last ten years or so have
just flown by.
Mother Nature - what can be
said? What a beating the South
East Coast took. With hurricane
Hugo hitting the Charleston
area with untold fury. The
winds and battering rain, the
destruction of so many homes
and business's. We watch in
awe at the TV newscasts. And
we hoped that none of our fri-
ends or relatives were caught
in it. Charlotte the site of the
1990 reunion, maybe 125 miles
or so from where Hugo came
inland, had many trees up-
rooted.
The California Quake - We
were getting set to watch the
3rd game of the World Series
and sat in disbelief when that
news came over the tube. As it
became known of the tremend-
ous damage that had happened
to the Oakland Bay Area and
that double deck bridge, Hgwy.
#880 we really had cause for
concern. My kid brother lives
very close and he's back and
forth on that bridge all the
time. Took a couple days but
brother Tim let folks know he
and his family were okay. In
just moments - seconds-nature
shattered many lives. We trust
you can be as thankful as we
are.
DUES - How about ending
this year right and getting your
dues in to our Executive Sec-
retary Norb Bruemmer. Take
advantage of the dues envelope
that's provided and get your
dues in and paid. Your support
here is very important.
Howard Tyger (B) writes - Hi
Stoney, Thought I'd better
answer your letter now, if I
don't I'll let it go and forget it.
To answer your question it was
the Miami Herald. No news
only it's hot, it's been running
about 90 degrees now. I don't
get much time to go places, as
it takes most of my time taking
care of my wife. So no news.
Tyger was in answer to the
article in the Nov. Hellcat
News, "Find Floridans In For-
gotten Nazi POW Camp".
Thanks Howard.
Don and Dorothy Elfering (S)
write - Dear Norb and Fern:
Well, understand everyone had
a great time in San Antonio.
Well, we had a bad year here
this year but we hope to attend
more reunions next year.
We are enclosing a clipping
from our Kenosha paper. We
brought Cecil and Margaret to
a couple reunions. We had plan-
ned to bring them to the nation-
al reunion in 1982 but Mar-
garet was buried two days be-
fore we were leaving for the
reunion.
Don and I attended Cecil's
funeral. We told his son Tom
that we would notify the 12th
Armored Association about his
death. We thought notifying
you would be the proper thing
to do. The VFW from Antioch
had a nice ceremony for Cecil.
He had cancer. He had not felt
good for sometime but would
not go to a doctor. When he did
go it was too late. They could
not do anything for him. He
only lived six weeks after they
