well it went, and thanking
Gladys and Don for their host-
ing of the event and Harry and
Jeanette Beeth for helping
them. Bill and Jean toured
Gettysburg while there.
We've all been following the
many observations, comments,
etc., concerning the events sur-
rounding Col. Meigs. Andy
Woods, C Company, has been
working to include a biography
of Col. Meigs in the new edition
of the Division history now
under preparation.
He's done a considerable
amount of research and has
been in contact with the Meigs
family, including Col. Merril C.
Meigs, son of the former Com-
manding Officer of the 23rd,
now stationed in Washington,
Assigned to the Joint Chiefs of
Staff.
Andy needs stories, anecdotes
- any type of information you
might have available - about
Col. Meigs for inclusion in the
biography. His address is:
62261 Calvin Center Road,
Vandalia, Michigan 49095.
He'll accept whatever you
have, in any form you have it,
and promises to return all doc-
uments.
Anyone who has such inform-
ation should pass it on to Andy.
It is only fitting that Col. Meigs
be adequately represented in
the Division history. And also,
it would be appreciated by his
son, to help perpetuate his mem-
ory.
Now the name Meigs has
been restored to the 23rd Ros-
ter. Col. Merrill C. Meigs is now
a full-fledged associate member
of the Association, courtesy of
Andy Woods.
A word about membership.
We need to find all those "lost"
guys that are out there. Our
rolls are shrinking each year
and there are still those who
are reluctant to join. Can you
imagine what would happen if
each of us could bring in just
ONE new member?
We might end up being one
of the largest World War II
associations.
By the way, the Association's
ranking of Division units by
numbers of members lists the
23rd as 11th out of 18 total
units. Top unit is the 714th with
300; we have 190 regular and
associate members. We ought
to be able to raise that figure
up between now and the 1990
convention. Right?
Each month will be listing
our paid-up members and also
those whose address has chang-
ed. (Unless, as the new kid on
the block, I've done it wrong-
then I'll sure hear from the
Editor!)
New addresses:

I'M SORRY!
In this first column, I warned
there might be some mistakes
as it was my first effort. There
was and it was a beaut.
In listing attendees at San
Antonio and anxious to avoid
errors. I had carefully checked
the C Company list at least
three times. Not carefully
enough.
Got a call from Tiny and
Margaret McKisick, C Com-
pany, down in Tulsa, gleefully
pointing out a vital omission
from that list.
Bill Costello, will you forgive
