sented an article entitled "Let Us

Miss Nancy Turek Is
Selected By Faculty As
D.A.R. Good Citizen
Nancy Tureik, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Turek, has been se-
lected by the school faculty to be-
come the Daughters of the Amer-
ican Revolution Good Citizen of
Palacios for possessing to an out-
standing degree these four quali-
ties: dependability, service, leader-
ship and patriotism.
A senior at Palacios High Sc hool,
Nancy is a member of the Future
Teachers of America, secretary-
treasurer of the National Honor
Society, editor of the school anr
nual and vice-president of the Fu-
ture Homemakers of America. She
was selected by the studtnt body as
Sophomore Class Favorite and
Homecoming princess. Following
graduation she plans to attend Oar
Lady of the Lake College in San
Antonio.
As local winner she will receive
a certificate of award from the
National Society of the DAR and a
Good Citizen Pin. Her name will be
sent to the State Chairman, where
a competitive method in the form
of a questionnaire on a merit basis
will be used to choose the State
winner. The State winner competes
with other states for the national
award by writing an essay of not
more than 300 words on the sub-
ject, "Our Christian American Her-
itage". The national award will be
a $1,000 scholarship to the college
of her choice and a sterling silver
bowl engraved "DAR Good Citizen
1964".
The way college costs are sky-
rocketing, education will soon be as
expensive as insurance.

nounce the arrival of their baby
sister, Beverly Ann, on November
1 at Wagner General Hospital. Mr.
and Mrs Donald Kelly are the proud

REFRIGERATOR
To keep your refrigerator
fresh and sweet, place a
piece of ordinary charcoal on
one of the lower shelves.
Charcoal is a splendid puri-
fying agent. It will soak up
fish, onion, and other strong
odors that affect the taste of
butter, cheese and other sen-
sitive foods. Replace the
piece of charcoal every 30
days for bent results.
