dent; Mrs. Gladys Faubion, secre-
tary; Mrs Carl Ehlers, treasurer;
Mrs. Charles Luther, correspond-
ing1 secretary, and Mrs. George

On July 215, 1961 35 members
met at the hospital for an orienta-
tion course which was conducted by
Leonard Watson, Miss Hazel Kull
(head nurse at that time) and Mrs.
W. E. Allen.
Pink Ladies were on du'ty most
of every day and the nursing staff,
the office staff and the doctors con-
nected with the hospital all ex-
pressed their appreciation for the
help rendered by the volunteers.
September 11, 1961, Carla struck
Palacios. No one needs be reminded
of the tragedy it left in its wake.
Many auxiliary members lost their
homes, many others were busy for
months with repairs to their homes.
A number of members moved away.
A few returned to dulty after the
hurricane, but many did not. At
this time there are 20 faithful
members. Some of these have work-
ed from the beginning. Others were
out from time; to time because of
illness.
New officers were elected this
year. They are Mrs. Guy Clay-
bourn, president; Mrs. Eugene Har-
vey, vice president; Mrs. D. D.
Carter, treasurer; Mrs. G. G. Hope,
secretary and Mrs. Teresa Tres-
selt, historian. There is a real need
for volunteers. If you would like
to volunteer two or more hours a
week at the hospital call Mrs.
Guy Claybourn.
The Auxiliary is a member of
The Texas Association of Hos-
pital Auxiliary, and voted to give
an auxiliary pin for the first one
hundred hours worked, and a gold
bar for each additional one hundred
hours. Below is a list of awards
Won to date:
Mrs. Alvena Laslie, 1 pin, 4 bars;
Mrs. J. R. Wagner, Mrs. G. G.
Hope, 1 pin, 3 bars; Mrs. Eleanor
Harvey, Mrs. Rose Treybig, Mrs.
