SCHOOL OF ENGLISH AND HISTORY.
This will cover a period of six years. It is designed to
impart a thorough knowledge of the English language and
its literature. Students in the Preparatory Department
will be thoroughly drilled in the Elements of English, and
as they pass through the college classes, will be more familiar
with the English Classics, and with the History and
Philosophy of English Literature. The aim will be to cultivate
the literary taste of the student, so that after leaving
college, he may safely be left to himself in his choice of
reading.
TExT-BOOKS:-The best standard books will be used.
HISTORY-The Philosophy of History: the Ganeral History
of European Civilization, Ancient, Mediaeval and(
Modern History will be taught in the last two years of the
College course. American History will be taught in the
Preparatory Department.
TEXT-BOOKS-Barnes' Series.
SCHOOL (F MUISIC.
In this school, the course of study is designed for beoinners
as well as for the most advanced students, and is thorough
and comprehensive. The Delartments will be as
follows:
Piano, Organ. Violin and G'uitar.
Voice Culture and Elocution.
Theory. Harmony and Composition.
Lectures on the History of Music.
Pupils in this school will be taught not only to execute
with taste and judgment, but to play at sight, the most
difficult selections.
